The Jim and Patty Rouse Award

This award was created to recognize the outstanding contribution of an individual or organization that has made significant differences in the direction or enhancement of Jubilee Housing.

Past Honorees:

 2007 - Greta Perry

The Jim and Patty Rouse Award was given to Greta Perry for her dedication to Jubilee and its mission, her contributions extend over more than 20 years.  It was through Jim Rouse that Greta found her way to Jubilee and his dedication to the work of Jubilee carries on today with Greta’s volunteer efforts.  Working as an employee for Jubilee back in 1984, Greta assisted Jubilee in the purchase of the Euclid building and provided the predevelopment work for the Festival Center.  Greta has served on the Jubilee Support Alliance board and as President in 2002-2003. She continues as an active Council of Advisors to JSA and is working as a volunteer directly with Jubilee Housing on the construction of the current Jubilee renovation project.  Greta has always been there for the call from JSA and Jubilee to support their mission and she serves as a dedicated leader to the organization.

 

 

 

2002 - Barbara Moore & Terry Flood
Terry and Barbara, the 2002 honorees have provided countless hours of service to both Jubilee Housing and to sister organizations. Both are original founders and Board members of Jubilee Housing and have been involved for over 25 years. Terry Flood is the current Executive Director of Jubilee Jobs, which provides job training and recruiting services to individuals. Many Jubilee Housing residents avail themselves of the services of Jubilee Jobs. Barbara Moore is the current Co-Director of Good Shepherd. This is an after school children’s center which provides guidance, homework assistance and creative classes including music and art classes. It is a haven for many of Jubilee’s youth.

2001 - P. Diane Tipton
Ms. Tipton first became involved with Jubilee over 8 years ago and joined the Board of Director's in 1994. During her tenure on the board Ms. Tipton participated at the forefront in all of JSA's signature activities and she served as President of the board from 1997-1998, she also co-chaired the Anniversary Campaign, which raised $300,000. Ms. Tipton has raised substantial financial support and awareness for Jubilee and continues to lend her expertise as a member of Jubilee Support Alliance's Council of Advisors.

2000 - Harold Nelson
Mr. Nelson first became involved with Jubilee in 1988 as a volunteer for the Gala Committee. Mr. Nelson served on the Gala Committee for several years before joining the Board of Directors as a representative of CarrAmerica in 1990. He was the Board President for the 1996-1997 term. In 1998, Mr. Nelson co-chaired Jubilee's 25th Anniversary Campaign, which raised almost $300,000 to Repair, Restore and Reserve Jubilee Housing. Mr. Nelson served on many committees throughout his tenure on the Board and organizes a work team for Jubilee Day, a day of repairs to the properties. Mr. Nelson continues to serve on the Council of Advisors for the Jubilee Support Alliance, generously lending his expertise and support to Jubilee.

1999 - Patricia Sitar
Ms. Sitar's involvement with Jubilee Housing began in 1973 as a volunteer and soon after as the Office Manager. In 1985, Ms. Sitar co-founded Good Shepherd Ministries which serves children of all ages in Adams Morgan by providing day care, tutoring, computer clubs, a music center, and indoor and outdoor play. Ms. Sitar continues to serve as a volunteer with Good Shepherd’s Primary Plus program and the Patricia M. Sitar Music Center. Ms. Sitar is also a resident of Sarah’s Circle.

1998 - Louise E. Pulizzi
Ms. Pulizzi has been a supporter of JSA since 1986, serving on the JSA board from1992-1998) and is currently a member of the Council of Advisors. Ms. Pulizzi who has served on a variety of committees, was co-chair of the third annual Jubilee Gala and was a founder of Jubilee Day, a work day where the volunteers and residents work to repair facilities and enhance the natural setting of Jubilee buildings.

1997 - Gordon Cosby
Founder of the Church of the Saviour. A founder of Jubilee Housing, on the JHI Board for over 25 years and is a member of the JHI Executive Committee.

1996 - Gayle Beasley
Patrician Mortgage. Founding board member of JSA, also served on Council of Advisors, coordinated the annual walk for the homeless for Jubilee.

1995 - John W. 'Bill' Branner
Founder of Jubilee Housing, Director of JHI from 1973-1995, currently serves as President of the JHI Board.

1994 - W. Lyles Carr, III
Founding JSA board member, served on the Council of Advisors through 1999, continues to serve on the Jubilee Housing Board of Directors.

199 - Knox Banner
Founder of the Jubilee Support Alliance.
